The Sandstone Trail is a 51km (32 miles) linear footpath connecting Frodsham in Cheshire with Whitchurch in Shropshire. This circular route starts from Tarporley and covers a fantastic 5 mile section of the Trail including Beeston Castle and Peckforton Hill. The Pheasant Inn at Higher Burwardsley is the half way lunch stop. We then follow quiet lanes and footpaths through Bunbury to stretch of the Shropshire Union Canal, then Tiverton for apres walk scones back at Tarporley.
We meet at Bell Meadow Court Car Park, High Street, Tarporley, CW6 0DX. The turn into the car park is next to The Rising Sun pub, opposite Piste Wine Bar. There is no charge for parking.
Meet at 9.30am ready to start walking at 9.45am. We will stop for an early pub lunch at The Pheasant at Higher Burwardsley. You may wish to bring a flask/snacks for a coffee stop en route. We will be back at Tarporley at approx. 4.30pm.
