The Best of the Sandstone Trail

North Cheshire Walking Sandstone Trail PeckfortonThursday 26th April

  • Distance: 12 miles
  • Ascent: 1500ft
  • Rating: Half easy flat walking, half moderately strenuous.

I promise that this is going to be an amazing day out. The walk is 12 miles with approx. 1500feet of ascent. I would describe this walk as half easy, flat walking and half as ‘moderately strenuous.’

It offers panoramic views east and west over the Cheshire plains and over to Liverpool, all from the dramatic wooded tracks over the Peckforton and Bickerton hills. We will also see an old copper mine, sandstone caves and an Iron Age hillfort.

But, more importantly, lunch will be at The Pheasant Inn at Higher Burwardsley which is already established as a firm favourite pub lunch stop for NCN Walkers. We will then make our way back through the Cholmondeley Castle Estate and Gardens. And, as if all that isn’t enough, we will be meeting at and returning to The Cholmondeley Arms which is also a very good pub so there is the possibility of staying for dinner.

Please let me know ASAP if you would like to book on this great walk.
