Another study extolling the benefits of brisk walking hit the headlines this week. Some of the papers chose to interpret the results in a slightly sensationalist manner claiming that brisk walking is better than going to the gym and other types of exercise. However I think this is due to the fact that walking can be done by anyone – the study concludes by calling for a campaign to promote walking as a potentially effective way to tackle obesity, rather than public health messages on healthy diets.
