Well what can I say: Wellies would have been the more appropriate footwear for all of the February walks. I would just like to say a massive thank you to you for turning out to paddle around Tatton and the rest of Cheshire with us this month.
Looking at the rainfall figures for the North West up to the 18th of February; the rainfall was already at 155mm – 199% of the monthly long term average. Incidentally the figure for England is 97mm – 166% of LTA. The North West is by far the wettest, but we know this.
I came across this description of Lake District rain – ‘cascades vertically downwards, pounds itself into the ground and rebounds ferociously to a height of several feet.’ I think that pretty much sums up February. Anyway, I’m not going to go on about it anymore because Spring is just round the corner, the snowdrops are stunning, all the songbirds are singing their heads off and its just 28 sleeps until the clock go forward. YAY!
We also had a fabulous two days Nordic walking at the Langdale Country Club at the beginning of February and as we end the month, another group will be there walking, followed by relaxing in the pool, steam sauna etc, and then enjoying a lovely dinner, wine etc. The hotel itself is perfect for us and the location is superb for fantastic Nordic walks. We will definitely be putting more of these winter short breaks on the calendar.
